As a continuation to our IEEE Day 2020 Celebration, our IEEE Student Branch has organized a most required session by our members and also a session which encourages IEEE student members to get involved into the IEEEXtreme 14.0. The Student Branch of University of Jaffna organized an IEEEXtreme Awareness Session on 17th of October 2020 from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm (IST). This event is initiated to provide guidance, share experiences and also to provide a platform for the IEEE student members who wish to take part in IEEEXtreme 14.0. In this session, there were two speakers. Mr Muwaz Niwas who is the former chair of IEEE Student Branch of the University of Jaffna and Mr Sujanan Bhathiya who is the former secretary of the IEEE Student Branch University of Jaffna. They shared techniques, and ways to encourage innovative thinking and harnessing the power of ideas, which helped participants to expand their knowledge and establish a culture of creativity and enhance the chance of winning this competition. This session was conducted virtually. We leveraged current technologies such as IEEE vtools event reporting tool, Zoom meeting app, Social media such as Facebook, WhatsApp and IEEE Google apps. The event went successfully and the feedback from the participants was very much positive. There were more than 40 participants. We were able to accomplish the motto for IEEE Day 2020 which is leveraging technology for better tomorrow while maintaining good health care practices. During this event, we took a photo with IEEE members with IEEE Day 2020 logo.
